Chapter 13 - The Outlands

First, you must rest.

Alice’s body was still awake, and it continued to hum from Hatter’s residual passion. Every ten seconds or so, his warm lips grazed the back of her neck and reminded her that she mattered to someone beyond the flesh. His gentle kisses were followed by Cheshire’s fingertips as they lightly grazed her forehead and moved some stray, damp strands of blonde hair away from her porcelain face. Hatter had told her to close her eyes, but she couldn’t yet bring herself to succumb to sleep.

A soft smile curled upward on Alice’s pink lips. “Did you like what you saw?” She gently teased. Cheshire’s silly grin widened.

“Oh, you know that I enjoyed the show. Hatter’s right; you’ve got a naughty streak. You like to fuck, and it turns you on when it’s a performance.” Alice’s cheeks flushed and warmed.

“I like how you look at me like I’m a diamond; your eyes linger on my body when the rest of you fades away.” Cheshire’s frame disappeared before Alice’s vision, but his amber orbs remained in view, burning with embers, unblinking.

Out of sheer curiosity, Alice lifted her hand and cautiously reached into the seemingly empty air. The back of her knuckles grazed something that shouldn’t be there; a semi-scruffie, warm, fleshy cheek. She rose on her other elbow and ran her thumb across his beckoning whiskers. Warm breath tickled her mouth. A moment later, Cheshire’s moist lips pressed teasingly against her own, and his form rushed back into full view. She curled her arms around his neck and tugged him with her as she lowered herself back onto Hatter’s duvet.

Hatter’s arms slipped from around Alice’s waist. She teasingly ran the tip of her toe along her newest lover’s thigh as she nipped at Cheshire’s lower lip, intending to give both men a tiny preview of her next desire. Cheshire grinned wider in response to her games and gently pulled himself away.

“So eager,” he teased, but his playful expression softened, and his fiery eyes dulled.

“Cheshire…” Hatter warned, but the other man narrowed his eyes. The sizzle that still vibrated across Alice’s skin finally began to fade. Cheshire’s hand resumed its gentle strokes of her soft hair.

“Are you sure you’re not tired, Butterfly?” Alice’s muscles softened as the euphoria she’d basked in only moments before slowly slipped from her grasp. Cheshire cupped her cheek, and she sank into the gentle comfort that he offered. Her lids quickly grew heavy as if fatigue was a weighted blanket that had just draped itself over her naked flesh. She gave in and allowed her eyes to close.

“Maybe a little,” Alice admitted, but her voice was already as distant as an echo. She felt Cheshire’s breath against her lips again, but she couldn’t quite muster the energy to tip her chin up for a kiss. “Maybe I’ll rest, just for a minute. Or a few minutes. I’ll just…” Alice did not complete her thought as the greedy grasp of induced slumber finally pulled her in.
